What is the goal Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories (NCCT) List?

The principal aim of the Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories (NCCT) Initiative was to reduce the vulnerability of the global financial system to money laundering by ensuring that all financial centres adopt and implement measures for the prevention, detection and prosecution of money laundering according to internationally standards.

Jurisdictions that are subject to the FATF’s call for countermeasures or are subject to enhanced due diligence (EDD) due to their strategic AML/CFT deficiencies (black list)[1]

Staff will submit a written internal Suspicious Activity Report or Suspicious Transaction Report (SAR/STR) to the Compliance Officer.

After an internal SAR/STR is submitted to the Compliance Officer(CO) ,  and the CO determines whether the SAR/STR should be submitted to the FIU.

The FIU cannot speculate the criminal offence it must be explicitly stated.

The internal SAR is a version of the FIU’s SAR/STR template, it is usually a form contained in the Compliance Program.

The Compliance Officer relies on the in the internal SAR so the intelligence provided by frontline staff is crucial.Intelligence goes from employee to the Compliance Officer, then Compliance Officer to the Financial Intelligence Unit.

You have to get outside your head: Defeat your fears

What is holding you back ? Have you changed your thinking ?

Start working on your problem today. Action will bring forth the answer that you seek. If you wait for inspiration, you will become comfortable in your inaction. Make an attempt, take a baby step today. Make a note of what you did. I spoke to a farmer recently, he said that it all started for him when he bought a couple of baby chickens. He cared for them, fed them , and watched them with great affection. He ensured that no snakes were around to harm them. He subsequently acquired additional animals, and started planting produce. He made a start. He pursued his destiny with a small step. Despise not the day of small beginnings, he learned eventually what times to feed the baby chickens and what times they liked resting.

Those without a Vision, have no Destiny.

Would you follow a leader without a Vision?

You have to find your success. What are you passionate about ? Structure your passion with your profession. You will never work another day in your life. Money will follow. It may be hard in the early stages, but despise not the day of small beginnings. Keep your head up. The time has expired for waiting for someone else to make your dreams come true. This is your life. All failures and success in your life thus far are attributable solely to you. Find out what your strengths are. Work on your weaknesses. Become the best version of you . Things will fall in place. If you are single, at this time, enjoy it. Use the time to develop your skills. Get a hobby, work on a project, keep your hands busy. Ten years from now, you will laugh at the things that you endured.

Always remember that there is a younger person looking at you. You may be a role model for someone. It may  be your son, or sister or a neighbor. There will also be negative people awaiting your demise. Be determined to prove them wrong. Hold the vision, go forth and meet your destiny.

Are you an entrepreneur? Be Patient

Do not expand to quickly, you may implode. I was contacted by a representative of a local telecommunications service  provider. He tried to convince me to advertise in  the local telephone directory. That way ,he said, I would attract new prospects. At the time I was discussing this proposition with a brilliant business professional. She asked me what I would do with all those incoming calls . She said that I may be overwhelmed and I agreed. The telephone directory also has an online version, the result is double exposure. I carefully considered the advice and I told the representative that I may contact him in the next 5 years.

I have been binge watching comedy series from the 80’s and 90’s. While watching an episode of “Sister,Sister” Lisa started a business, she made dresses and offered them for sale. Her first customer bought a dress and Lisa felt invincible. She started planning to attract new customers. She called the media houses and asked for quotations to place advertisements. She was advised by Ray that she should take it slowly and not expand too quickly. Lisa placed the advertisement and the same client came knocking on her door.Ray answered the door and gave the first customer a full cash refund and accepted the dress that she wanted to return. He hid the dress that was returned in order to protect Lisa’s feelings. Lisa was upset when she discovered the truth but she was determined to bring her dream to pass. She realised that she needed to conduct the business on a small scale then ,eventually she would expand.

I recalled a conversation with one of my clients , he indicated that equipment should not be purchased unless a contract was secured. He said that a business must be gradually expanded , creep then walk.

I want to appeal to you ,although you may be ambitious, life will knock your socks off. Be patient, trust the process. Do not take loans to acquire equipment if it seems that work is not forthcoming. The equipment has a minimum of 6 months warranty. In the event that you do not get any clients, you will not have cause to use the equipment and detect any flaws. The warranty may expire before you get a client. You will then have to pay to repair or replace the equipment. Should you decide to sell the equipment, you will lose money because of depreciation.

Remember success is 1% inspiration and 99% persistence , so please learn as much as you can, acquire contracts then expand,in that order.

Should I get a Credit Card?: Trinidad Online Entrepreneur

She was advised that her position was made redundant and that her services were no longer required. She spent 12 years at the bank. She refused to accept the separation package and decided to ask for a transfer to another location or division of the bank. She was approaching 51 years and she considered herself to be a difficult hire. She was aware that the job market was tough and since she did not further her education post secondary school, her chances were limited.

I asked her why did her position suddenly become redundant. She told me that she refused to offer customers credit cards and loan facilities. She said that she lamented the indebtedness of the customers in the queue to pay off their credit cards. It was a refreshing view, that a bank employee did not believe in taking credit cards and loan facilities when it was not needed.

It is loan sale time. As the Christmas season approaches, there are jingles on all radio stations with loan promotions. I visited the bank to make my loan application. The loans officer offered me a credit card and $20,000 extra. I told her that I had no use for $20,000 cash currently. This also meant a longer period to repay the loan. I asked her whether the additional $20,000 could be placed in a mutual fund. That way, a lower interest rate would be offered. Also, the bank will hold the $20,000 as collateral. I agreed to this proposition.

A word to the wise, you may be offered a credit card or additional money by your friendly, neighborhood banker. But remember that if you do not need it, do not take it. The banks thrive on excessive interest rates and credit card late fees. If you do not need it, do not take it.

Are you happy ? INSPIRATION FOR Hustlers: Antoinette Sydney

Have you lost your individuality by confirming to the New Age ? Are you a mindless dummy walking around on your phone 24/7 ? It is easy to fit in, just follow the crowd. Are you happy ? It is pleasing to look at the little things and be grateful. The birds in the sky laugh at us,as we rush to get to our meaningless jobs ,then we rush to return home, enduring hours of traffic, each day. What kind of life is that? I observe people as they pass by, long faces , no joy and a general lack of zest for living . At the end of the month, after the rent is paid, the bills are covered, the bank account loses more weight. We then wait for the next salary to repeat the process. Be brave,be strong. Now is the time for innovation, follow your passion.

Sometimes when you follow your dreams, you are heart broken, then you wake up and the dream is over. But if you follow your passion and listen to your heart ,if you are disappointed, you will try again. Don’t lose yourself in the crowd . Walk in the opposite direction. Make up your mind to go on a journey of self discovery. Explore yourself ,find out exactly just how likeable you are. When you find yourself, there will be a peace within you. You will be happy, when you are happy with yourself, the world will be happy with you. You must be content with the person that you are NOW. It is a hopeless quest to find happiness in someone else.

What happens after a SAR/STR is made in Trinidad

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) receives the SAR/STR and analyses it. If there is a criminal offence the FIU prepares an Intelligence Report (IR) and forwards it to the Fraud Squad or the Financial Investigative Branch (FIB) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) or the Anti-Corruption Unit of the TTPS.

An investigation is then launched based on the intelligence contained in the Intelligence Report. The FIU is supposed to “sanitize” the information by removing names of reporting employee and the Compliance Officer.

Fraud Squad, Financial Investigative Branch , or the Anti-Corruption Investigative Branch (ACIB)  will start visiting the premises of the suspect, asking questions, looking for witnesses, providing the DPP with information in order to receive instructions to start preparing charges.

FIU may be asked for additional information such as any other SARs/STRs reported in the past.

How to predict the future !!!! by Antoinette Sydney

Your subconscious mind is a silent observer of your thoughts, words and action . Your subconscious mind does not understand negative commands . Check your thoughts hourly , conduct a weekly audit to see if your thoughts are negative or positive .

Develop positive affirmations that are easy to remember . Purchase the beads used in meditation and repeat your chant at least 108x. Honestly believe that it will come to past ,eliminate all doubt in your mind. See yourself graduating with that degree ,imagine your spouse congratulating you on that new business .

An important ingredient is “feeling”. You must feel that you have already received what you have asked of Source.

Your subconscious mind will now bring it to reality . It is now important for you to avoid all negativity ,go on a news fast . It is done.
